We are a waste-free school, we provide all new students with a bento-style lunch box to encourage no packaging, plastic food wrap, and food waste. If you must send packaged food, wrappers and food left should be put back in the lunchbox and taken home for disposal. This also allows parents to judge what and how much their child eats at school and provide a lunch that is adequate and wanted.
The main reasons are:
Care of the planet – To be more aware of packaging means we will reduce the amount that goes to landfill.
Type of food – Generally, the food with the most packaging is the worst for us. Therefore, if we can promote food with less packaging, we will have healthier and happier students
Cost to parents – The food with the most packaging is usually the most expensive.
Cost to the school – Reducing how often the skip is emptied will mean money can be spent elsewhere
Thank you for your support.
