A very warm welcome back to Term 3! It’s wonderful to see the school filled with the energy and excitement of our tamariki again after the break. We look forward to another busy and productive term ahead, filled with new learning, special events, and opportunities to grow together in faith and community.
FAITH FACTS/KĀ MEKA O TE WHAKAPONO
Each newsletter, as we are a school dedicated to God, we will publish a few fabulous faith facts. Here are two for this fortnight:
Te Atua – God: The reo we use for God – God the Father, the Creator, the 1st person of the Trinity. One of the themes in the new Religious Education curriculum, Tō Tātou Whakapono Our Faith is Te Atua God.
Hēhu Karaiti – Jesus Christ (transliteration): The reo we use for Jesus Christ, the Second Person of the Trinity.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION/HĀKARAMETA TUATAHI
Congratulations again to our wonderful children who received their First Holy Communion during the holiday break. We were so proud to witness this special part of their faith journey and to see them take this important step in growing closer to Jesus.
TRIP/HAEREKA
Next week, our Faith Team will have the special opportunity to visit St Francis of Assisi School to hear Cardinal John Dew speak about his recent experience at the Conclave in Rome. This is a truly meaningful occasion for our Faith Team to hear first-hand about such a significant event in the life of the Church. We are very grateful for this opportunity to deepen our understanding and connection to our Catholic faith.
A NIGHT AT THE CONCLAVE
Cardinal John Dew will be sharing his inspirational reflections on his recent visit to Rome and his experience attending the Papal Conclave. We have already had a fantastic response with strong interest in tickets and lots of word-of-mouth spreading through our Catholic communities. Don’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime experience
LEARNING CONFERENCES/HUI AKORAKA
Our Learning Conferences (Parent/Teacher Interviews) will be held next week, Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th July. These conferences are a great opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher.
You can book your time through the Skool Loop app. Simply open the app on any phone, click on ‘Bookings’, and select your child’s teacher and preferred time. Please book only one time slot per teacher. During the conference, teachers will discuss your child’s report, and students will share their learning and their goals for the remainder of the year.
School will finish at 12.30 pm on Wednesday, 23rd July, due to these interviews. If you are unable to arrange supervision for your child, they will be supervised in the Mission Centre until the end of the school day. Please notify your child’s teacher if supervision is required or if you give permission for your child to walk home. Students will not be permitted to leave on their own unless we receive written notification from a parent or caregiver.
School will finish at the usual time of 2.50 pm on Thursday, 24th July.
Please note: Learning Conferences for Room 4 parents with Mr Chiron will take place on both days, but from 4.00 pm. We thank Mr Chiron for making himself available despite being on study leave.
TRAINEE TEACHERS/KAIAKO WHAKAKUKU
We welcome Petesa Fonoti, Paolo Reid and Rebekah Bradbrook to St Anne’s for their six-week teaching placement. Petesa, Paolo and Rebekah are participating in the Mātauranga Māori programme at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha.
KORU GAMES/KĀ TĀKARAO O KORU
Our Year 7 & 8 students will once again be participating in the Koru Games. The Selwyn Sports Trust have launched their merchandise range. Pre-orders are now open and will be available for pickup at the Games in September. If your son or daughter is interested in getting some cool merch, the range can be found here.

Cash orders at the office are no longer accepted. If you wish to order books please do so using the LOOP online parent purchase option with Scholastic.
REMINDERS/MAUMAHARATIA
Just a couple of housekeeping reminders for parent and caregivers:
- Please be respectful and do not use the church parking for student drop-offs and pickups
- We ask that parents avoid gathering near classrooms or collecting bags before the 2:50pm bell, as it can be distracting during end-of-day prayers and clean-up. Please use the seating outside the office or wait on the front court area instead.
- Non-medical absences during term time—such as holidays—should be discussed with the Principal in advance. Approval for such leave is at the Principal’s discretion, in line with the Ministry of Education’s guidelines regarding student attendance.
If you notice anyone who may be unaware of these please respectfully remind them. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
