HEALTH AND SAFETY / KO TE ORAKA ME TE HAUMARU
Entering and exiting school: It’s time! From WEDNESDAY, please do not come through the entrance foyer unless you are going to Kidsbase or are in Room 5. To enter or leave school, please walk around past the bike shed or the back of Room 1. It will be like this until we advise otherwise.
Trucks moving through school: Trucks need to go in and out this school and will be scheduled before 8.30am and after 3.05pm (school hours for children). It is important that children are NOT here unsupervised before 8.30am or after 3.05 as per our bells. Any trucks will be in close contact with Kidsbase to ensure the children are safe. PLEASE ENROL IN KIDSBASE, DON’T LEAVE YOUR CHILDREN HERE OUTSIDE OF HOURS UNSUPERVISED PLEASE. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. THIS WILL LAST FOR 5.5 MONTHS SO ENROL NOW IF NEEDED.
That’s it at this stage! Summary: Foyer is not used (except Room 5 and Kidsbase) and no-one at school out of hours unsupervised! Thanks heaps everyone!

WHEELS WEEK / KO TE WIKI O TE WIRA
It didn’t start well with so much rain, but it ended well! Big thanks to the Physical Activity Leaders (Sport Squad) for organising activities for us all to do. Our favourites were the parade on dress up day and the obstacle course! Don’t forget to finish ‘Monday’ and ‘Tuesday’ on your cards next week and hand them to your teacher for prizes.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY LEADERS / KAIĀRAHI O TE KORI TINANA (SPORT SQUAD)
Last week, our PALS team had the exciting opportunity to visit the Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre to take part in a special leadership development day. This experience was designed to help our students grow as leaders and role models for our junior classes. Throughout the day, students participated in a range of fun and challenging activities that focused on teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. They learned what it means to be a positive school leader, including how to support younger students, show empathy, and help create a welcoming and inclusive school environment. Our PALS students demonstrated excellent cooperation, enthusiasm, and maturity. They reflected on the importance of leading by example and gained valuable skills they will use when working with our junior students throughout the year. We are very proud of the way our PALS team represented our school and look forward to seeing them put their leadership skills into action. Well done, PALS team!

MASS NEXT WEEKEND / MIHA I TĒRĀ WĪKENE
A reminder that all students from Room 4, Room 5,  Room 7, Room 8 and Room 10 are expected to represent us at Mass next Saturday 21 March at 6pm. We understand that some go to churches other than St Anne’s (like many of our staff), but we ask that you come to St Anne’s for this, once a term celebration. It is tidy dress (not uniform). See you all there.

PRAYER BOXES / KĀ POUAKA KARAKIA
Kia ora e te whānau. We are blessed at St Anne’s to have our prayer boxes to take home. They are full of everything you’ll need to hold family prayer time. These special boxes are designed to go home with a student from each class once a week. If you get one of these boxes, please take good care of it and bring it back in the same condition it left the school. We are currently ordering a lot of replacement parts and whole boxes for when they go missing. This only cuts into the Religious Education budget and limits what we can do on other special events like feast days. If you find any parts or a box at your house, please send it back to Mr Halkett in Rm 7 or your class teacher. I pray you all have a blessed time with your family and grow your prayer life with our prayer boxes, then pass it back for the next family to do the same.

Rm1: Elizabeth – always reverent during prayers & shares her own beautiful prayers.
Rm2: Teresa – shares heartful prayers in class.
Rm3: Brandon – for his retelling of the Good Shepherd parable.
Rm4: Jia – For leading prayers so well this week and her thoughtful contributions over the week.
Rm7: Ann – For confidently volunteering to lead prayer for Rm 7&8.
Rm8: Jarren –  Leading prayer and waiata with passion.
Rm10: Lino – for his efforts in memorizing John 3:16 in Samoan and his beautiful prayers in Samoan
Rm5: Isla – for her enthusiastic learning and modelling of Pope Francis’s Five Finger Prayer method.
Rm9: Leila – actively participating in RE and learning the Samoan prayers

Room 1 – Alfonzo (Ally) for being able to tell many bible stories about Jesus’ miracles.
Room 2 – Alofaina for beautiful heartful prayers and always singing with passion.
Room 3 – Lucas for sharing personal heartfelt prayers in the morning on request. (away on Friday, photo next newsletter.)

Room 4 – Sebastian for always sharing thoughtful prayers and his contributions to our learning about the Transfiguration of Jesus.
Room 5 – Aviana for singing with passion and sharing meaningful prayers in class.
Room 7 – Ann for amazing prayers again! (yes, you can be picked again! No rosters at St Anne’s)
Room 8 – Abel for singing religious songs with passion, and understanding the deeper meaning of bible stories during morning prayers.
Room 9 – Viva  for singing and leading religious songs with passion.
Room 10 – Angelo for singing “Ia fa’ane’ene’e” with passion (religious song) and is able to retell and explain the story about Jesus being tempted in the wilderness.

FIRST COMMUNION PROGRAMME / HŌTAKA UKARITA TAPU
This has just started, we have spare forms in the office and if you hurry, it may not be too late. If your child is keen and is not baptised, you can still register, please grab a form. It is for 8 year olds and older.

POLYFEST
This is next weekend. Come support so many of our ex-students. Grab tickets from here. $5 per day. This is one of our homework challenges so come and see our pasifika cultures celebrated and tick one off!

GIRLS’ RUGBY / WHUTUPŌRO Ā-HINE
Calling girls 8 years and over!!! Please follow this link to an upcoming rugby day camp. This camp is designed for girls aged 8–18, whether they’re new to rugby or already playing, and focuses on building confidence, skills, connection, and enjoyment in a safe and supportive environment. We will have a few students there, so give it a go! Link

LITTER FREE LUNCH BOX REMINDER
A litter free lunch means no plastic wrap, no foil, no zip lock bags and no packages. Your child can still eat foods that come in packages but please take the food out of their wrappers and packages before putting them in your child’s lunchbox. Thank you for your support.

GLOW FEST
GLOW fest is on again this year. This is a glow in the dark 3×3 girls only basketball event with three sessions throughout the day. First up is year 3-4 in a miniball session, followed by a primary aged session and lastly a 13+ session.

Teams are entered by a parent, and then players enter with their teams link to join the team and pay their respective individual fees. I have attached a flier and socials post for you to share with your girls. This is a great place for girls to give basketball a go in a unique setting.
