To the extended family of St Anne’s, this is a greeting flying to you all at this time of Easter!
First up, so it is not missed, the school grounds are shut to anyone but staff in the holidays. This is so our builders can safely work over the break. They can get lots of drop offs and pick ups done over this time. Please don’t send children down to play here these holidays. Thanks heaps!!!!
Easter is the most important time for our Church. The resurrection is the core and foundational belief of Catholics. Please join our parish in the events this Holy Week and this weekend. Daniel Richards, one of our teachers will be confirmed at the 7pm vigil mass on Saturday at St Anne’s church. Congratulations to him for taking that step.

HEALTH AND SAFETY / KO TE ORAKA ME TE HAUMARU (UPDATE/PĀNUI WHAKAHOU)
Entering and exiting school: Reminder, please do not come through the entrance foyer unless you are going to Kidsbase or are in Room 5, it will probably be locked anyway. To enter or leave school, please walk around past the bike shed or the back of Room 1. It will be like this until we advise otherwise.
Trucks moving through school: Trucks need to go in and out of the school and will be scheduled before 8.30am and after 3.05pm (school hours for children). It is important that children are NOT here unsupervised by parents before 8.30am or after 3.05pm as per our bells. Any trucks will be in close contact with Kidsbase to ensure the children register in their care are safe.
PLEASE ENROL IN KIDSBASE, DON’T LEAVE YOUR CHILDREN HERE OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL BELL TIMES WITHOUT SUPERVISION PLEASE. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. THIS WILL LAST FOR FIVE AND A QUARTER MONTHS SO ENROL NOW IF NEEDED!

Here are our students who stood out last week:
Room 1 – Charles for morning prayers and asking for blessings on others.
Room 2 – Willa for working hard on being kind, respectful and listening. She is also starting to share good prayers in the morning.
Room 3 – Zella for sharing meaningful and heartfelt prayers over the last two weeks.
Room 4 – Bete for living like Jesus asked us to.
Room 5 – Kera for sharing meaningful and deep prayers of gratitude and for being a model of living our faith through our actions.
Room 7 – Taika for demonstrating his faith by helping the teacher and those around him.
Room 8 – Marisa for her strength in her faith, her willingness to share prayers and singing with effort and passion.
Room 9 – Rose for writing meaningful prayers about Jesus and his sacrifice for his people.
Room 10 – Fatu for the thoughtful prayer he wrote about helping the homeless and those in the war.
PALM CROSSES / RĪPEKA PALM
Kia ora e te whānau.
This week is Holy Week. To celebrate Palm Sunday, the ‘Junior Faith Team’ (students from Room 7 who help out from time to time) taught the other classes how to make crosses out of palm fronds. With a lot of practice and patience, they mastered how to make these beautiful crosses. It was lovely to see Yr 5 & 6’s stepping up into this role and preparing to be future faith leaders of the school. – Josh Halkett – Director of Religious Studies

A huge congratulations to two dedicated Student Librarians on completing their training! Your mahi in managing our library spaces and supporting fellow students is truly appreciated. CAMP 2026 / HOPUNI 2026
This year we were back at Living Springs. What an amazing camp it is. Massive thanks to all those parents who missed work and came over to help. Also to our staff, leaving their families to fend for themselves for three days! We hope all students were pushed out of their comfort zone, but had fun being there!
QUAIL ISLAND TRIP / TIRIPI KI ŌTAMAHUA
Wow, like the Tākitimu story the children are learning this term, we also went on a boat to an island. The difference – we had a motor! Our students were guided around Ōtamahua and learnt about how the island got its name, and learnt its history from millions of years ago, to Māori use, then settler use. They learnt about native vs introduced species in terms of animals and plants, about pests, old stories of the area, and how society dealt with diseases in the past. Students learned to look after the habitats of the rocky shore.

Touch finished with a beautiful afternoon in the sun. Thanks so much to all the parents and extended family who helped with coaching. Also for the treats on the last day. Our children are so lucky!!!
LITTER FREE LUNCH BOX REMINDER / HAI WHAKAMAHARA MŌ TE TINA RĀPIHI KORE
A litter free lunch means no plastic wrap, no foil, no zip lock bags and no packages. Your child can still eat foods that come in packages but please take the food out of their wrappers and packages before putting them in your child’s lunchbox. Thank you for your support.
