Praying with the Psalms – Clara Mapley (DRS)

Last term the staff spent time weekly reflecting on the psalms.  It is so important in our busy lives to stop for a moment and to sit quietly with the Lord.  This term I will be posting a psalm, along with a reflection by Phil Dyer, each week for you to use at your leisure.  I hope that you find it inspiring!

This term Our Psalms are from “The Book of Praise” Chapter 5 of “Echoes of Wisdom” by Phil Dyer.

Week 1

Psalm 67

God, be merciful to us and bless us;

    look on us with kindness,

so that the whole world may know your will;

    so that all nations may know your salvation.

May the peoples praise you, O God;

    may all the peoples praise you!

May the nations be glad and sing for joy,

    because you judge the peoples with justice

    and guide every nation on earth.

May the peoples praise you, O God;

    may all the peoples praise you!

The land has produced its harvest;

    God, our God, has blessed us.

God has blessed us;

    may all people everywhere honor him.

Canticle to the Sun

May all creation give you praise

and radiate your life!

 I pause,

 and slowly open myself like a flower

 to your warmth and light…

 it pours upon me,

 filling me with blessings and power,

 transforming me with knowing…

 gladness fills me to overflowing

 and my heart sing for joy!

 you watch over all the Earth

 and treat everyone with equality…

 the Earth responds with plenty

 and yield at Harvest.

 You bless us with your being

 and I give you

 praise!

May all creation give you praise

and radiate your life!
